Learn and Play Chess Club at Willoughby Library In-Person
For this meeting of the Learn and Play Chess Club, we are excited to welcome back International Chess Master and 15-time Ohio Chess Champion Calvin Blocker for a special simultaneous exhibition. Calvin will take on up to 30 challengers simultaneously. He aims to improve upon his 2019 performance, where he conceded only one loss. Prepare your best chess game and get ready for an exciting afternoon of chess! Space is limited to 30 boards. We encourage everyone to register in advance to reserve a seat. The exhibition will take place from 12:00 - 4:00 pm in the meeting room. Following opening remarks and a brief introduction, play will begin promptly. If space permits, walk-in participants may join on the day of the event until 12:30 pm. While we expect to have enough boards and pieces available, we encourage everyone to bring a tournament-sized chess set from home. There is no cost to participate in this event.
